The National Trust for Scotland’s Pollok House is Scotland’s answer to Downton Abbey and gives a taste of upstairs/downstairs life in the 1930s.
Above stairs the lavish family rooms, ideal for entertaining, are packed full of period furniture and furnishings, as well as the UK’s finest private collection of Spanish art, including paintings by El Greco, Goya and Murillo. Below stairs the vast Servants’ Quarters show the realities of running a country house and provide a versatile space for meetings, dinners and ceilidhs.
Enjoy a drinks reception or whisky tasting in the Library or Drawing Room before being called to dinner in the lavishly decorated Dining Room – featuring large-scale Dutch hunting scenes by Gerrit Malleyn.
Outside, the beautifully manicured riverside lawn is a wonderful setting for outdoor events and marquees for up to 400 guests, with the house providing a spectacular backdrop.
Team-building activities, ranger lead walks, ‘behind the scenes’ tours with guides in period costume and murder mystery evenings can all add an extra dimension to stunning Pollok House.
